Bilirubin and albumin round out the panel by measuring different jobs entirely. Bilirubin is the waste pigment behind jaundice, so its level shows how well the liver is clearing it. Albumin is a protein the liver alone produces, so a low reading — especially alongside other abnormal results — can suggest its longer-term, ongoing function is affected, rather than a sudden injury.
